Srinagar, Oct (KNO): The government on Thursday informed the Legislative Assembly that over 67.40 lakh beneficiaries have been covered under the free ration scheme across the Union Territory since March 2025, while no free gas cylinder has been issued during the same period. Responding to an un-starred question by MLA Waheed-Ur-Rehman Para, the government, per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), shared district-wise data showing 29,76,027 beneficiaries in Jammu division with Jammu district recording 6,11,835 beneficiaries, followed by Rajouri 4,15,756 and Kathua 3,72,672—and 37,64,605 beneficiaries in Kashmir division, where Baramulla district topped the list with 5,78,106 beneficiaries, followed by Anantnag 5,76,943 and Srinagar 5,09,787. The government further clarified that “no free gas cylinder has been issued to any beneficiary in Jammu and Kashmir during the said period.” The information was provided by the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department—(KNO)
